Kingsley High School welcomes opportunities to link with local and national employers and training providers. The opportunity to develop contact with workplaces and professionals supports our learners in their achievement of Educational Health Care Plan outcomes, particularly those relating to Education and Employment, but also those relating to Communication and Interaction, Social, Emotional and Mental Health and Community and Independence.

We enjoy assemblies and short presentations from professionals who may wish to come into school, and will be happy to discuss and support the best ways to make engagement meaningful and accessible. Recent visitors have included representatives from farming, midwifery and the emergency services.

We are also very keen to support our learners develop hands-on experience of work. This is generally undertaken in short bursts, with work experience programmes tailored to meet the needs of both learner and employer. Typical options for work experience programmes include weekly 1-2 hr slots, 1-2 consecutive mornings or afternoons, or sometimes recurring half-day slots. Recent programmes have included garden centres, libraries, charity shops and an estate agent.

Direct support from school staff is always provided for work experience programmes.
